IX Std Orphan Girl Brutally Raped, Left To Die Near Tollygunge In Kolkata

Bengal Chief Minister finds immense pride in claiming her State is safe and women are secured, atleast that is what she had said recently in an interview to a Bengali private satellite channel. Has she forgotten the numerous cases that had immediately taken place after Park Street gangrape case. Not to forget the poor teenager who met similar fate at Kamduni like Delhi brave heat. In this same interview, she said she has the fastest judiciary and she ensures that verdict is pronounced. I recall how she had sent then Investigating Officer Damayanti Sen on an oblivion posting who had dared to prove Banerjee wrong in Park Street gengrape case by saying that gangrape did take place. Rest is history and perhaps we all know the story.

Well, the recent one has taken place in the heart of the city near Tollygunge. The class 11 girl did not return to her Jadavpur house last evening, today a newspaper vendor found her in pool of blood with torn clothes around 7 AM.

Till now the news has spread like wild fire and once again, again, again and again to infinity has ashamed Kolkata. According to reports an orphan girl aged between 15 to 16 years was found in a pool of blood on the road near BD Memorial School in Tollygunge, South Kolkata. Needless to mention she was brutally raped or gangraped (yet to be confirmed).

Mamata Banerjee’s police and Trinamool activists in the area are allegedly obstructing and not allowing people from media and press to meet victim’s family. Even it is not know if anf FIR has been lodged. The victim was admitted in MR Bangur Hospital in a critical condition and will undergo an operation shortly.

So, Madam Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, I hope this is not an ‘sajano ghotona’ (concocted incident), ‘choto ghotona’ (small or petty incident), “chokranto” (attempt to defame her government) and finally “bohiragoto der kaaj” (work of outsiders), the four typical jargon or catch phrase used by her on an average, seeing this her party members too follow…

CONDEMN! with capital ‘C’, is this the Kolkata we had known…Without any preferences for political shades or colour, I have no hesitation in saying previous Congress and Left Regime was better than Trinamool regime…Finally, Madam Banerjee, will you sit now on a dharna near the venue…

Ayush Ministry says, non veg food not good for pregnant women

To what extent this Saffron government will stoop, any limit left at all. Forget about the harassment this government has been causing to people on name of ‘demonetisation’, making ‘Aadhaar’ mandatory and forthcoming GST (to fulfill whims of Prime Minister) but it seems have also forgotten the basic of morals and ethics. Saffron brigade has totally forgotten that ethics’ or ‘morals’ is not just running after Lord Rama and Janam Bhoomi or chanting ‘mantras and ‘shlokas’. The recent booklet published from Ayush Ministry is a nothing but a crap and also an insult to women. It says stay away from non veterinarian foods to have a healthy baby, that means those who are having baby after eating non veterinarian foods are not having having healthy baby.

The book has issued advisory to women to away from ‘lust’, sexual desire’ apart from anger, excitement etc. These words in itself reflects the filthy mindset…Condemn!

Pity! Lord Rama, Lord Bajrangbali pitted against each other to gain political mileage

Never in the history of Kolkata and Bengal, people had witnessed such “pomp and show” to celebrate Ramnavmi. There had been people celebrating the festival but not on such a big platform. Saffron brigade has been eyeing Bengal, for quite some time now, and tried every possible poll tactics to woo voters during the last Assembly polls. Trinamool Congress had given BJP a tough fight. Once again the BJP is gearing up for the forthcoming Panchayat polls slated to take place later this month. The Saffron Brigade seems to have gained extra ‘confidence’ and ‘calories’ after they won in Uttar Pradesh. The enthusiastic BJP on Wednesday today, tried to en-cash the festival of Ramnavmi. The Saffron Brigade had invited large number of Trinamool MPs and MLAs.

Trying to spread and woo masses, the Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sagh (RSS) alongwith its ally BJP had taken out large processions across the state which were attended by women and children with naked swords and other weapons. On Tuesday, Bengal Pradesh BJP President Dilip Ghosh had said, its an exhibition ‘shakti’ and there is nothing wrong in exhibiting swords and weapons. Well, Saffron Brigade is mistaking Bengal with other states where they have taken help of Hindutva. Someone must tell them that Bengal is the last state to heed to ‘communal card’.

west-bengal-bjp-08-1457423761 (1)

This may turn a boomerang for the Saffron Brigade which had may had some chances, if at all it had. Trinamool Congress too is not much behind, it has announced that they will offer special prayers at all the Bajrangbali Temples across the state.

Pity! Lord Rama and Lord Bajrangbali are pitted against each other for political gains, in real, Lord Bajrangbali had been such a big devotee of Lord Rama and I am sure would never had approved the filthy way of en-cashing religion…

Fresh molestation in Kolkata’s Park Street questions law & order in the state

Last week, shadows of Park Street gangrape that had brought memories of Park Street gangrape victim Suzette Jordon, back. This time a 30-year-old woman alleged that she had been molested and assaulted at a nightclub at Kolkata’s iconic Part Street. Unlike Suzette, who showed exemplary courage and guts by revealing her identity, this girl prefer to keep her identity a secret. Jordan, had said after appearing on television, that its not for her to be ashamed but the accused should be ashamed. She had become Suzette Jordon, activist and could be seen in ungenerous television debates, candle light march.
The recent victim while talking to media said a group of drunk men assaulted her in front of her husband while she was at a bar on Park street this Saturday night. She alleged that the men were so much drunk that they did not listen to her pleading for mercy. “They touched me inappropriately outraging my dignity, they also thrashed my husband who tried to protect me from their clutches”, said the victim. The lady, a young mother of a two-month-old child has alleged that a group of men had grabbed her breasts badly, “I was in immense pain as they had grabbed my breasts due to which I could not feed my baby”, added the victim.
The Police which after going through the CCTV footage, claimed to have found certain missing links and have asked for more footage.
The molestation incedent reminds the horrific gangrape incedent of Suzette Jordan a few years ago that had made headlines over chief minister Mamata Banerjee trying to shun-off the allegations by calling “sajano ghotona’ (concocted incedent) and ‘choto ghotona (small incedent), there was a lull on night crimes on Park Street in Kolkata or may be things were not reported and even if reported, the Police may have taken things casually since the transfer of then IO Damayanti Sen for proving Banerjee wrong and standing beside Jordan had been a negative impact on the force trying to bring out facts. In February 2012, she was allegedly raped in a moving car on Park Street in an upscale area of the city.
The big question is, after February 2012 gangrape, the state government had made ‘tall’ claims of not only increasing the night patrolling across the area but also asked the police to act immediately. Why then the reputation of ‘February 2012′ gangrape took place on the same streets, Park Street that once used to be among the safest places in the city. Its high time Bengal state government should stop seeing “chokranto” (connivance) in everything that goes wrong in the state and come up with some concrete steps to protect the dignity of woman which is at stake.

Mamata sets up “Bengal Health Regulatory Commission” to curb against unethical medical anarchy

On Friday,  West Bengal Clinical Establishments (Registration, Regulation and Transparency) Bill, 2017″ in the Assembly to bring all the private hospitals, nursing homes and diagnostic centres under the ambit of state government. Mamata Banerjee had convened a meeting at Town Hall last week after patient party had vandalised Calcutta Medical Research Institute (CMRI) over harassment by hospital staffs. Banerjee had made it clear that such practices will not be tolerated. People have welcomed the new bill and feel this will help to voice their grievances. By Pallab Ghosh

On Friday today, Mamata Banerjee had tabled the much awaited bill,”West Bengal Clinical Establishments (Registration, Regulation and Transparency) Bill, 2017″ in the Assembly. It was during the meeting at Town Hall, the Bengal Chief Minister had informed, “the Regulatory Commission will have representatives of private hospitals, health department, consumer affairs department, doctors and police representatives”. At the same time the Chief Minister condemned the vandalism by patient`s party. “We condemn acts of vandalism in hospitals, but you must understand why people took to violence”, added Banerjee.

Last week after members of patient party had vandalised Calcutta Medical Research Institute (CMRI) over excess billing and harassment by hospital officials, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had convened a meeting at Town Hall which was attended by representatives from various private hospitals, nursing homes and diagnostic centres.

“apnara eto bill ki bhabe koren, eto bill to five-star hotel e thakleo hoina. chikitsha r naam e ei douratto bondho korun” (how do you make such an exorbitant bill, even five star hotels don`t make such bill. Please stop this anarchy in the name of treatment). It was during this meeting Mamata Banerjee had made it clear that such deliberative attempt to harass patients to an extent where the family members come to roads will not be tolerated in the state. Banerjee, had clearly indicated that soon a regulatory body will be introduced in the Assembly. “The West Bengal Health Regulatory Commission will have representatives of private hospitals, health department, consumer affairs department, doctors and police representatives,” said the chief minister.

The Bill has been termed as totally patient friendly and gives enough room to patients to voice their grievances. A large section of doctors have come forward and welcomed the bill. However, a small group of doctors have raised their suspicion on the transparency of the bill and said both the interest of patients and doctors should be looked at largely.

Let`s take a glance at the salient features of the new bill:
Private healthcare institutes cannot refuse admission and treatment in emergency cases Top priorities to patients suffering from acid attack, rape and accident victims.
Hospitals have been barred from prescribing “unnecessary” medical tests
The commission may also put the offender behind bars up to three years.
Permission of patient party before putting patient under ventilator.
Hospitals will have to declare bed charges, ICU charges.
Package costs that can`t be altered.
Hospitals will have to explain the need for further treatment.
Penal measures range between compensation and scrapping the licence.
Death of a patient due to medical negligence will attract a fine of up to Rs 10 lakh, and a fine of Rs 3 lakh to Rs 5 lakh depending on the damages

Bhangar reminds of Singur, Nandigram fiasco

Watching news since evening, I can see the shadows of Singur and Nandigram or better if we say ‘ghosts’ of Singur and Nadigram are out of the closet. The only difference is that time CPIM was accused of carrying out atrocities. How can we forget then chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharyaa has said “we will pay back in same coins’ which later turned into ‘political’ boomerang and Trinamool came to power. This time Trinamool Congress is in the backfoot. Village is tensed, villagers scared as night is getting darker. They feel any moment Police will enter their village and ransack their homes, same thing took place during Nandigram and Singur when Budhhadeb babu’s police ran havoc inside the village not sparing children, elderly least talk talk of women who were raped and killed. Villagers in Bhangar have geared up to fight out and have placed logs, trees and barricades at the entry points to stop police. Villagers have accused police of opening fire on them and killing over two innocent people, the recent was Alamgir who succumbed to bullets late in the evening. State government is in the backfoot as villagers have accused one time Mamata Banerjee confidant Arabul Sheikh of fanning the land acquisition drive in the area. Trinamool MLA from this region Rezzak Mollah known for being vocal and don’t even hesitate to embarrass own party high command has accused Arabul and his own party for letting people like Arabul to grow.

The situation is tense and people in the area are scared to hear that high level police meeting is going and forces from adjoining Kashipore, Barasat are on their way to crush the protest. Trinamool Congress has accused Jadavpur students alongwith Maoists fanning the movement and has asked police to identify Maoists hiding in the area which clearly means it has given green signal to police to enter the village or should we say crush the agitating voices, as then CPIM had done in Nandigram and Singur.

It’s just the beginning, as coming will days will see political drama when opposition will leave no stone upturned to question Mamata Banerjee over the development in Bhangar just like she had done during Nandigram and Singur. The big question is when Banerjee had said on Sunday that land will not be taken forcefully for building substation then why did this happen and on whose order police had entered the village and opened fire…Question like this and many more will be asked in the coming days, Mamata Banerjee may find it ‘choto ghotona’ (small incident), ‘sajano ghotona’ (concocted incident) and ‘bohiragoto der kaaj’ (work of outsiders) but she will have to reply especially when President Pranab Mukherjee will be on a visit to Jharkhand and West Bengal and entire media will be focusing on Bhangar…

Finally, being a journalist myself, I condemn police and alleged Trinamool goons attacking reporters, camera-persons covering the story in Bhangar. Scribes were brutally beaten up with rods and sticks. Trinamool Congress has been in the past too has attacked Press and Media for anti-establishment reportage. Condemn!

Narada TV’s expose puts Trinamool in catch-22 situation

Trinamool Congress which is trying to come to terms with its name dragged in  Saradha, Rose Valley and numerous ponzi scams maligning the image of so-called clean “Maa, Mati, Manush’ government will have a tough time to gulp down the bitter pill of  Narada TV’s expose. Electorates are very unpredictable and none of the political parties can ever predict the mood swing…

Trinamool MP Mukul Roy in a huff to prove the allegations wrong even forgot the ‘facts’ and claimed that the infamous Bangaru Laxman expose was also doctored and “manufactured’, Roy even said that Laxman was innocent and opposition falsely implicated him. Mukul Roy completely forgot that CBI found the allegations true and Laxman was sent to jail. Later, Bangaru Laxman died. Taking cue of the Laxman episode, opposition parties have demanded justice in Trinamool expose. The same Mamata Banerjee who was Railway Minister in NDA had built pressure on then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee to sack George Fernadez over an expose. Banerjee subsequently resigned from the NDA.
On Tuesday, Election Commission in Kolkata assured that the tapes would be investigated by concerned authorities. However, the opposition BJP, Congress and CPM who have come together on one platform on the issue reiterated their demand seeking the resignation of West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee. In the meantime, Mathew Samuel, the journalist who has done the entire sting operation and also the owner of Narada TV has said that the footages are real and he stands by his words. Mathew Samuel also challenged anybody to prove that the tapes are doctored and said he was ready for any test of the tapes.
The Trinamool Congress is certainly in a catch-22 situation over the alleged sting video of the Narada TV which has exposed the big names in the Trinamool Congress. The video which was released on Monday morning at the BJP Headquarters in Delhi shocked all as the sting operation showed leaders like Trinamool MPs Sultan Ahmed, Saugata Roy, Mukul Roy and Prasun Banerjee. State ministers like Firhad ‘Bobby’ Hakim, Subrata Mitra and Saradha chitfund accused Madan Mitra. Apart from MPs and MLAs, the sting also showed two Trinamool Yuva leaders which include Karan Sharma, the second in Trinamool Yuva after Trinamool supremo Mamata Banerjee’s nephew Abhishek Banerjee. Sovan “Kanon” Chatterjee, Mayor KMC and a close confidante of Mamata Banerjee is also seen taking money in the sting.
The political activities gained momentum at once across West Bengal with ruling Trinamool jumping into the crisis management while the opposition Congress, BJP and CPM leaving no stone unturned to encash the opportunity. The impact of the sting was so intense that party MP and second-in-command in the Trinamool Congress and also known to be Mamata confidant Mukul Roy cancelled his north Bengal trip as he was supposed to accompany Mamata Banerjee on her north Bengal tour. Mukul Roy rushed to Trinamool Bhawan from the airport to address a meeting followed by press conference. Senior party leader Derek O’Brien immediately (in his typical rhetoric) went on saying “Kutsha” (maligning name) of Trinamool and said opposition was indulging into all this since they know it was not a cakewalk to defeat the Trinamool Congress on the face value. Counter attacks also came from all Trinamool leaders seen in the video excepting Madan Mitra who is in Alipore Central Jail accused of money laundering in Saradha chitfund scam. Mamata Banerjee who was in north Bengal too attacked the opposition and claimed that the video was doctored and people will not pay heed to such initiatives to malign the image of Trinamool Congress.
From Bangaru Laxman to Jaya Jaitley to George Fernandez nobody in the past accepted that tapes were genuine. Mukul Roy has threatened to move court and file the defamation case against Narada TV. Opposition in the state has welcomed by saying that would be indeed a good move as it would only ascertain whether the sting operation done by Narad TV is true or doctored. The big question is  will Trinamool be able to eschew the bitter pill if charges are proved. Will Trinamool supremo Mamata Banerjee initiate disciplinary action against the accused seen in the video or shrug-off by calling the expose another “choto ghotona” (petty issue), “sajano ghotona” (concocted incident) and finally the work of “bohiragoto” (outsider)…
