Bengal CM fumes at Governor over call, herself fails to control situation

Is religion really over humanity? Swami Vivekananda was once asked this question and he immediately said, religion has immense significance but that does not mean that religion will overpower humanity. Swami Vivekananda had said “religion is people, people not for religion”.

Well, I have been watching a particular news channel running a segment on what has happened in Bengal and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s fuming over Governor seeking a reply from her over deteriorating situation across Murshidabad, Bashirhat and Baduria. Since afternoon, this segment is on and is going overboard. I have no issues against the segment since the channel has brought the facts on the table which were being suppressed since long. My question is why people pay heed to politicians and fundamentalists who fan communal sentiments.

Since ages, Hindu and Muslim have been staying like one entity then why, what has gone wrong that communal tensions have become a regular feature. Rabindranath Tagore had raised his voice and used “Rakhi Bandhan” to bridge the gap. In the words of famous poet and writer Nazrul Islam who said “mora ek brinte duti kusum Hindu-Musalman, Muslim tar nayan moni Hindu tahar praan” (we are same flowers from same tree Hindu-Musalman, if Muslim happens to be the eyes then Hindu is the bossom). Another great poet Iqbal said, “maz’hab nahin sikhata apas men bayr rakhna hindi hai hum, watan hai hindostan hamara” (religion doesn’t teach enmity among each another, we are one and our country Hindustan is one, hail Hindustan”.

Why can’t people take a call and stand firm against these politicians, fundamentalists and tell them that these elements have no place in the society, such people are just not welcomed.Let’s now take the call and show these politicians and fundamentalists the door, they deserve that…

27-year-old woman, mother of a girl jumps into river in Bengal to escape her rapists

Please read this, it’s really important and exposes the situation women face. A 27-year old woman in Ranaghat, Nadia district of West Bengal was gang raped sometime back on her way back after dropping her daughter at school studying in class three. According to the victim, she was forcefully taken to a building at gunpoint where a group of four people gang-raped her. She had recognised one of them who happened to be her neighbour. Since then her ordeal began, these goons began demanding ransom from her. She too continued to give money (by begging, borrowing) since they had threatened to kill her husband and daughter. They had also threatened to upload the video of rape on social media. She had accepted her plight and did not tell anybody.

As if this was not enough, more was in store for this young lady. A few days back, when the victim was returning home after dropping her daughter, these goons once again had started following her on the bike. Helpless, trying to protect her dignity the woman jumped into the river as she felt it was better to commit suicide than falling prey in the hands of these goons. The people taking bath in the river saved her. A police complaint was lodged after she narrated her ordeal in details to her husband. Police have arrested one of the accused and are on the lookout for the others…

know this is not an isolated incident, there are many like this yet nothing is done…It may not be out of context here, Mamata Banerjee rather than fuming on Governor seeking an explanation on the deteriorating law and order in the state, should pull up her administration and take special steps in securing dignity of woman…

Syndicate Mafia demand ransom from Netaji’s nephew and TMC MP for renovation work

Have you ever thought of ‘extortionists’ demanding ransom from Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose’s nephew Saugata Basu who is also sitting MP from Trinamool Congress. This is the picture of syndicate mafia today in Bengal. On Monday, a group of goons had come at Shishir Basu’s residence, where renovation works are underway, at Sarat Bose Road and entered into an oral altercation with Saugata Basu who had come down from hearing a verbal scuffle taking place with his mother and former Trinamool MP Krishna Basu. It so happened that a large chunk of the roof had fallen and renovation work was going on. These goons who are part of syndicate banged into the premises and started misbehaving with Basu’s. When Saugata Basu asked their names, they fled. Immediately, the matter was informed to the police station and senior police officials from Ballygunge Police Station rushed to the residence of the MP. Till evening the police had nabbed six suspects from nearby areas and were investigating the matter. This entire incident on one hand has put the face of any Bengali into shame while on the other hand, has raised a big question mark on the safety and security of people since now syndicate mafia are targeting even those people who are having renovation work in their houses which is indeed alarming and needs to dealt strongly before the situation gets out of control…While reacting to the incident Saugata Basu, a thorough gentleman, said “I really don’t give mush importance to what has happened since we were a well-known family and I being an MP can handle it but I am scared to think what situation are we living in.What will happen to a common man who has no connection with high ups in political fraternity or administration. Honestly, I am scared to think of the plight of people who must be facing such menace yet have no place to lodge their complaint least resist these goons”.

However, West Bengal chief minister and Trinamool supremo Mamata Banerjee on several instances has directly announced that she or her party does not support syndicate mafia and anybody within her party wants to stay with syndicate mafia may leave the party…

Pity! Lord Rama, Lord Bajrangbali pitted against each other to gain political mileage

Never in the history of Kolkata and Bengal, people had witnessed such “pomp and show” to celebrate Ramnavmi. There had been people celebrating the festival but not on such a big platform. Saffron brigade has been eyeing Bengal, for quite some time now, and tried every possible poll tactics to woo voters during the last Assembly polls. Trinamool Congress had given BJP a tough fight. Once again the BJP is gearing up for the forthcoming Panchayat polls slated to take place later this month. The Saffron Brigade seems to have gained extra ‘confidence’ and ‘calories’ after they won in Uttar Pradesh. The enthusiastic BJP on Wednesday today, tried to en-cash the festival of Ramnavmi. The Saffron Brigade had invited large number of Trinamool MPs and MLAs.

Trying to spread and woo masses, the Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sagh (RSS) alongwith its ally BJP had taken out large processions across the state which were attended by women and children with naked swords and other weapons. On Tuesday, Bengal Pradesh BJP President Dilip Ghosh had said, its an exhibition ‘shakti’ and there is nothing wrong in exhibiting swords and weapons. Well, Saffron Brigade is mistaking Bengal with other states where they have taken help of Hindutva. Someone must tell them that Bengal is the last state to heed to ‘communal card’.

west-bengal-bjp-08-1457423761 (1)

This may turn a boomerang for the Saffron Brigade which had may had some chances, if at all it had. Trinamool Congress too is not much behind, it has announced that they will offer special prayers at all the Bajrangbali Temples across the state.

Pity! Lord Rama and Lord Bajrangbali are pitted against each other for political gains, in real, Lord Bajrangbali had been such a big devotee of Lord Rama and I am sure would never had approved the filthy way of en-cashing religion…

Mamata sets up “Bengal Health Regulatory Commission” to curb against unethical medical anarchy

On Friday,  West Bengal Clinical Establishments (Registration, Regulation and Transparency) Bill, 2017″ in the Assembly to bring all the private hospitals, nursing homes and diagnostic centres under the ambit of state government. Mamata Banerjee had convened a meeting at Town Hall last week after patient party had vandalised Calcutta Medical Research Institute (CMRI) over harassment by hospital staffs. Banerjee had made it clear that such practices will not be tolerated. People have welcomed the new bill and feel this will help to voice their grievances. By Pallab Ghosh

On Friday today, Mamata Banerjee had tabled the much awaited bill,”West Bengal Clinical Establishments (Registration, Regulation and Transparency) Bill, 2017″ in the Assembly. It was during the meeting at Town Hall, the Bengal Chief Minister had informed, “the Regulatory Commission will have representatives of private hospitals, health department, consumer affairs department, doctors and police representatives”. At the same time the Chief Minister condemned the vandalism by patient`s party. “We condemn acts of vandalism in hospitals, but you must understand why people took to violence”, added Banerjee.

Last week after members of patient party had vandalised Calcutta Medical Research Institute (CMRI) over excess billing and harassment by hospital officials, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had convened a meeting at Town Hall which was attended by representatives from various private hospitals, nursing homes and diagnostic centres.

“apnara eto bill ki bhabe koren, eto bill to five-star hotel e thakleo hoina. chikitsha r naam e ei douratto bondho korun” (how do you make such an exorbitant bill, even five star hotels don`t make such bill. Please stop this anarchy in the name of treatment). It was during this meeting Mamata Banerjee had made it clear that such deliberative attempt to harass patients to an extent where the family members come to roads will not be tolerated in the state. Banerjee, had clearly indicated that soon a regulatory body will be introduced in the Assembly. “The West Bengal Health Regulatory Commission will have representatives of private hospitals, health department, consumer affairs department, doctors and police representatives,” said the chief minister.

The Bill has been termed as totally patient friendly and gives enough room to patients to voice their grievances. A large section of doctors have come forward and welcomed the bill. However, a small group of doctors have raised their suspicion on the transparency of the bill and said both the interest of patients and doctors should be looked at largely.

Let`s take a glance at the salient features of the new bill:
Private healthcare institutes cannot refuse admission and treatment in emergency cases Top priorities to patients suffering from acid attack, rape and accident victims.
Hospitals have been barred from prescribing “unnecessary” medical tests
The commission may also put the offender behind bars up to three years.
Permission of patient party before putting patient under ventilator.
Hospitals will have to declare bed charges, ICU charges.
Package costs that can`t be altered.
Hospitals will have to explain the need for further treatment.
Penal measures range between compensation and scrapping the licence.
Death of a patient due to medical negligence will attract a fine of up to Rs 10 lakh, and a fine of Rs 3 lakh to Rs 5 lakh depending on the damages

Bhangar reminds of Singur, Nandigram fiasco

Watching news since evening, I can see the shadows of Singur and Nandigram or better if we say ‘ghosts’ of Singur and Nadigram are out of the closet. The only difference is that time CPIM was accused of carrying out atrocities. How can we forget then chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharyaa has said “we will pay back in same coins’ which later turned into ‘political’ boomerang and Trinamool came to power. This time Trinamool Congress is in the backfoot. Village is tensed, villagers scared as night is getting darker. They feel any moment Police will enter their village and ransack their homes, same thing took place during Nandigram and Singur when Budhhadeb babu’s police ran havoc inside the village not sparing children, elderly least talk talk of women who were raped and killed. Villagers in Bhangar have geared up to fight out and have placed logs, trees and barricades at the entry points to stop police. Villagers have accused police of opening fire on them and killing over two innocent people, the recent was Alamgir who succumbed to bullets late in the evening. State government is in the backfoot as villagers have accused one time Mamata Banerjee confidant Arabul Sheikh of fanning the land acquisition drive in the area. Trinamool MLA from this region Rezzak Mollah known for being vocal and don’t even hesitate to embarrass own party high command has accused Arabul and his own party for letting people like Arabul to grow.

The situation is tense and people in the area are scared to hear that high level police meeting is going and forces from adjoining Kashipore, Barasat are on their way to crush the protest. Trinamool Congress has accused Jadavpur students alongwith Maoists fanning the movement and has asked police to identify Maoists hiding in the area which clearly means it has given green signal to police to enter the village or should we say crush the agitating voices, as then CPIM had done in Nandigram and Singur.

It’s just the beginning, as coming will days will see political drama when opposition will leave no stone upturned to question Mamata Banerjee over the development in Bhangar just like she had done during Nandigram and Singur. The big question is when Banerjee had said on Sunday that land will not be taken forcefully for building substation then why did this happen and on whose order police had entered the village and opened fire…Question like this and many more will be asked in the coming days, Mamata Banerjee may find it ‘choto ghotona’ (small incident), ‘sajano ghotona’ (concocted incident) and ‘bohiragoto der kaaj’ (work of outsiders) but she will have to reply especially when President Pranab Mukherjee will be on a visit to Jharkhand and West Bengal and entire media will be focusing on Bhangar…

Finally, being a journalist myself, I condemn police and alleged Trinamool goons attacking reporters, camera-persons covering the story in Bhangar. Scribes were brutally beaten up with rods and sticks. Trinamool Congress has been in the past too has attacked Press and Media for anti-establishment reportage. Condemn!

Trinamool uses Madan Mitra’s masks to seek ‘proxy’ votes in Kamarhati

Supporters of Madan Mitra held campaigning by wearing masks of Mitra to seek ‘proxy’ votes in Kamarhati. The entire incident had reduced the dignity of elections into a joke. Masks used as ‘proxy’ face for the tainted and accused candidate. Poriborton’ indeed…

Elections are a farce in this country, many would pull up their socks to counter by quoting theoretical examples from constitution but there are endless examples that show it has been reduced to nothing but a play of influence and power, quite alarming this blend has not only put ‘democracy’ at stake but also has raised a big question mark on the ‘basic’ need of holding elections. From Bihar to Uttar Pradesh and now in Bengal, we face similar situation where ‘accused’ and ‘tainted’ leader is contesting elections. No prize for guessing, I am talking of Saradha chitgate accused and Trinamool MLA Madan Mitra. The days has changed for this heavyweight candidate, initially Trinamool Congress supremo and West Bengal state chief minister Mamata Banerjee had refused to remove Mitra from his ministership and said he would remain minister even if Mitra had to stay in jail since she did not believe he has taken money from Saradha. Few months later, Mamata Banerjee had to change her version and Mitra was removed from ministership. Opposition opined that election strategy being formulated. However, Madan Mitra and likes hold an important place in ant political party and they cannot be neglected by parties. These people have an immense contribution in ensuring  that their parties win the elections. Trinamool Congress is no different, this became a reality when people saw party giving  a ticket to Madan Mitra from Kamarhati in West Bengal. Mitra who is currently lodged in Alipore Central Jail will contest elections from jail, in other words use his influence to win the elections through remote control. Thanks to the constitution, this empowers such people to contest elections.

On Sunday, Kamarhati saw a height of mockery during campaigning. In support of their favourite dada, the party workers had organized rallies and walks to seek ‘proxy’ vote for Saradha chitgate accused Madan Mitra. The party workers had donned masks of Madan Mitra which was childish, foolish and reduced the dignity of elections to a joke. These buffoons forget that people are no more fools and they watch a lot more behind the curtains which politicians can never imagine. This act not only mocks the election process but also the dignity of the Trinamool Congress for allowing such type of campaign.
However, one big question is will part supremo Mamata Banerjee campaign for Madan Mira in Kamarhati, after all Banerjee doesn’t believe that Mitra is tainted.
On a broader platter, the party must get more such masks since they may need ahead of the Lok Sabha polls if Narada TV expose is proved…
